Tonya Ranae (Martin) Blackburn, age 47 and a long-time resident of Sasakwa, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Alliance Health Hospital in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, Oklahoma. Rev. Welton Stoker and Rev. Tim Martin will officiate, and casket bearers are Levi Blackburn, Donnie Blackburn, Nicholas Hopper, Eugene Blackburn, Chris Finkenbinder, Chris Lee, Austin Blackburn, and Colton Blackburn. The family requests that everyone wear a mask at the service. Viewing will begin Monday morning, January 11th at the funeral home.
Tonya was born April 24, 1973 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Rev. Lawrence “Wesley” Martin and Joyce Marie (Price) Martin. She earned a Bachelor of Education from East Central University of Ada, Oklahoma, and became a High School Math and Disciplinary Educator for Gainesville, Texas ISD. She was also a cheerleading coach for several years for the Gainesville High Cheerleaders. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Sasakwa, Oklahoma. Tonya played the trumpet, and was a Drum Major for Konawa High School.
She is survived by her parents, Rev. Wesley and Joyce Martin of Sasakwa, Oklahoma; one son, Levi Dakota Blackburn of Sasakwa; one daughter, Danielle Denise Hopper and husband, Nicholas “Nick” of Powderly, Texas; her former husband, Donnie Blackburn of Sasakwa; one brother, Daniel Wayne Martin and wife, Diane of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters, Jana Beth Lee of Konawa, and LaTina Carol Martin and husband, Chris Finkenbinder of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and two adorable granddaughters, Carlee and Georgia who were the light of her life.
