Sue (Cully) Givens

Sue (Cully) Givens, age 82 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma departed from this life on April 8, 2023, at home in Vamoosa, OK.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, and she will be taken to High Springs Baptist Church of Konawa at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.  A wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Ed Bray officiating. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at High Spring Indian Baptist Church, Konawa, OK with Rev. Houston Tiger officiating.  Burial will follow at Our Family Cemetery in Vamoosa, OK.  Casket bearers are Les Harjo, Jr., Ronnie Powell, Ron Snyder, Marc Allen Yarbrough, Lewis Harjo, Jr., and Herman Foster.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Travis Honsinger, T.J. Wolf, Mike Factor, Ronnie Burgess, and Keith Billie.

Sue was born on September 10, 1940, in Pawnee, OK. She was a member of High Spring Indian Baptist Church in Konawa, OK.  Sue loved watching sports on television and was a big OSU fan. She loved cooking traditional foods and feeding all her family. She enjoyed spending time with people she loved and was always ready to help anyone in need. Her granddaughter, Deidre, stated it best when she said, "…She was the go-to for everyone. If anyone needed her, she was there. It didn’t matter what it was or what time it was, she was there.  If you needed something she would do her best to help you get it. If you needed a place to stay,  her door was always open and she had a blanket and a pillow waiting for you…it didn’t matter if you were blood, married into the family, used to be married into the family, or just a friend who became family, Grandma had your back…she would also let you know when you were out of line and didn’t take nonsense from anyone…"
She had 12 siblings, and 7 children: Anna Lou Givens of McLoud, OK; Veronica Givens of the home; Harper Givens, and Beverly, of Konawa, OK; LaVonna Givens, and Ricky Harjo, of Ada, OK; Jessica Powell, and Ronnie, of Shawnee, OK; and Alexa Grass of Konawa, OK.  She had 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Tema Cully, and Wisey (Lowe) Cully; one daughter, Genelle Bemo; and two grandsons, Christopher Bemo and Erik J. Yarbrough.
