Shirley Yvonne (Welty) Gatewood, age 83 passed away September 20, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma.

A family graveside memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Oakman Cemetery near Ada, and cremation is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, Oklahoma.

Shirley was born December 25, 1937 in Clarkton, Missouri to Elza Welty and Ernestine (Summers) Welty. She graduated from Kennett High School in Missouri and attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. She was a member of Southwest Church of Christ in Ada, and she was an Administrative Technician for the Oklahoma State Health Department.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen Stoliby and husband Rick of Ada; one brother, Danny Welty and wife, Leslie of Salisbury, Missouri; two grandchildren, Rebecca Kelley and husband, John, and Jonathan Sawler; five great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Walter Welty; one sister-in-law, Lartreva Welty; two children, Ricky Gatewood and Tawnya Gatewood; and one grandson, Ricky Gatewood.
