Shirley Ann Davis, a resident of Norman, Oklahoma, transitioned from this earthly world on October 30, 2023. She was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on August 9, 1944, to Leonard Street and Emma Cook. She grew up in Seminole and attended Booker T. Washington from first to seventh grade. Upon completing her elementary days, she attended Seminole High School where she completed her education and received her high school diploma. Shirley married Freddy Lee Davis in 1962 and from their marital union, they had two children, Freddy, Jr. and Kellye. In 1971, they moved from Seminole to Oklahoma City where she worked at Westinghouse Distribution as an assembler for 18 years. Later, she moved to Norman, Oklahoma and worked as a Housekeeping Supervisor at the USPS Training Center in Norman until her retirement.
Shirley accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at the Church of God in Christ. She was a member of the Community Missionary Baptist Church where she attended until her health no longer permitted. Two of her favorite hobbies included spending time with her friend, Betty Ferguson at the farmers market and gardening. She had a gifted green thumb and grew many exotic colorful flowers. She oftentimes shared her floral clippings with her neighbors to grow gardens of their own around the senior cottages. Shirley had a knack for making friends because of her welcoming and loving spirit. She was an assassin when it came to baking and cooking. She executed every dish. She was known for her quick wit and colorful adjectives that left us all speechless and gasping for air from laughter. Her radiant smile will be deeply missed by all who loved and cherished her.
She loved spending time with her grandkids, Samuel Jr. and Sydnie, who were the absolute joys of her heart. She was her only granddaughter’s best friend. To her dear grandson, she was his adoring Mimi. Shirley enjoyed many visits, grocery store trips and doctors’ appointments with her doting cousin who was always present, Bobby Ray Curry. She received and enjoyed many delicious meals which included her favorite dish, Thanksgiving dressing, and many days of spiritual encouragement from her dearly beloved sister, Chiquitta Overstreet.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; Leonard Street and Emma Cook, her siblings; Leonard Street, Jr., Thomas Allen (Daddy Cooks), Thomas (TC) Sunny Sturgeon, Wilmer Davis, Charles Street, Ruby Street, Minnie Lee Cook and Janice Bandy and her only beloved son, Freddy Davis, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted and loving daughter; Kellye Woodfork (Samuel), two grandchildren; Samuel, Jr. (Latoya) and Sydnie Woodfork, all of Norman, Oklahoma, one great-grandchild; Jurnee, brothers; James Gordon, Randal (Edith) and Dean (Janice) Street, sisters; Rosemary “Marie” Street, Cissy Davis and Garland Smith, Ebony Gilliard; her beloved niece with whom she shared a special bond, her best friend of over 45 years; Glenna Sue Peters, her dearest church friend and sister; Irma Houston, her great-grand goddaughters; Necole and Aaliyah, many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins and church family and friends.
