Sherry Marshall Obituary

Guthrie resident Sherry Lea Marshall passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 at her home.

Sherry was born April 6, 1956 to Minnie Mae Ghumm in Oklahoma City.  She graduated from Moore High School with the class of 1974.  On October 25, 1989, she married John Marshall in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  Sherry spent most of her life working in management in the food service industry; working the last several years at Stables Café in Guthrie.  Sherry loved to shop, and frequently did so at auctions; she loved diamonds and had a particular interest in clocks.  She was an avid gardener, who also loved to cook and was always trying to make something new.  Sherry was a dog person, having had several dogs and she loved all of them just the same.  Sherry frequented casinos; in fact, she owned three slot machines that she kept at her home.  Sherry was passionate about showing her appreciation to military personnel.  She and her daughters spent countless hours creating and distributing care packages to deployed military, several active duty personnel referred to her as mom.  When her husband John was deployed, there was only one day that he didn’t receive a care package from Sherry.

She was preceded in death by her mother; her brother, Richard; sisters, Virginia and Sue; and her step daughter, Alicia.

Sherry is survived by her husband, JW; daughters, Crystal Vassar of Guthrie and Shawna Walker of Wright City, and Melissa Campbell of Texarkana; a step daughter, Andrea Marshall;  grandchildren, Kristen Moya, Blane Coley, Michael Walker, Ethan Jackson, Will Jackson, Khloe Walker, Lofton Walker, Jayden Floyd, and Nolan Mulford; a sister, Elsie Scott, and several other family members and friends.

Services will be Saturday, December 4, at 2:00 P.M. at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole.  Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
