Sherry Burgess Obituary

Sherry Ann (Hardesty) Burgess, age 60 and a resident of Ada, Oklahoma, passed away November 19, 2020 at AllianceHealth Hospital in Durant, Oklahoma.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the Burgess Family Cemetery in Seminole County, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, Oklahoma.  Honorary casket bearers are Jeremey Napoleon, Ross Kinnamon, Robby Quinton, Matt McCollom, Jon Bull, and Brandon Pierce.

Sherry was born May 30, 1960 in Cheverly, Maryland to Patrick Hardesty and Iona (Costello) Hardesty.  She graduated from high school and became a cafeteria worker.  She married Ricky Gale Burgess, and she loved to cook, sew, play “Hangman”, and watch John Wayne western movies. 

She is survived by her mother, Iona Hardesty of Bowie, Maryland; two sons, Michael Burgess and wife, Destiny of Ada, Oklahoma, and Ricky Burgess, Jr. of Asher, Oklahoma; one brother, Jon Hardesty of Bowie, Maryland; two sisters, Roxanne Frank of Virginia and Patty Lowe of Bowie, Maryland; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ricky Burgess; her father, Patrick Hardesty and one brother, Joe Hardesty.
