Rosa Lou (Birkicht) Goforth

Rosa Lou (Birkicht) Goforth, long time Seminole resident, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at the age of 82, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  She was born August 5, 1938, in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Ira Oliver and Beulah Bell (Parsons) Birkicht. She spent most of her life north of Seminole.  Rosa was a graduate of Prairie Valley High School where she played basketball. 

Rosa was a woman of faith and a member of Highway Baptist Church. She married Bobby Lee Goforth on March 24, 1956.  She was a beloved caregiver to her family and was always extremely involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.  Rosa was a very classy lady and was an avid shopper and passed this joy on to her daughters.  She was also well known to be a jokester and enjoyed a good laugh. Rosa enjoyed going out to eat and traveling with her family.  She bowled well and even traveled to multiple destinations to do so.  Rosa was loyal, loving and family focused.  She spoiled her family and her family loved spoiling her.

Rosa is survived by her daughters Gay Vaughn and husband James of Konawa and Karen Colburn of Ada, OK; brothers and their wives Fred and Dorothy Birkicht of Ruby, LA and George and Delores Birkicht of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Norma Hurst of Maud, OK; 8 grandchildren, Jamie Scott, Waymon Scott, Chad Vaughn and wife, Jodi, Chris Hilton and wife, Stevie, Ryan Colburn and wife, Bre, Maraela Colburn, Hunter Vaughn and Chalin Vaughn and wife, Kamry; 10 great grandchildren, Reagan, Jaley, Reese, Coy, Bailee, Ella, Tate, Rylee, Jaxton and Daniel; her special friend Jim Wingfield and numerous nieces and nephews other family and friends.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant daughter, Tammy Goforth; brothers, Billy Birkicht, Eugene Birkicht and Charles Birkicht.

Casket bearers will be Ryan Colburn, Chad Vaughn, Chalin Vaughn, Hunter Vaughn, Carl Beaver and Waymon Scott.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Highway Baptist Church, with Bro. Carl Whitfield officiating.  Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
