Oscar Lee Bunner

Oscar Lee Bunner, 80 year old lifelong Wewoka, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Monday, August 31, 2020 at his home in Wewoka surrounded by his loving family.  He was born April 16, 1940 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to parents Cora (Lena) Green and David Bunner.

Oscar grew up in Wewoka where he attended school.  He worked as a CHR driver.  He drove for the Southern Mental Health Services and he also worked for the Seminole Nation Head start.  Oscar was a very devoted father and grandfather and enjoyed any kind of sports his family played.  He would always coach and cheer them on.  Oscar also loved to watch the OSU and OU sports as a very devout fan.

Oscar was a member of the Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church.  He was also a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma the Tallahassee Band.  Oscar loved to make people laugh, he will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his companion, Kevin Jones, one son, Michael Joseph Bunner and his wife Vanessa of Ada, Oklahoma, two daughters, Shannon Bunner Hibbert and her husband Shawn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Maria Bunner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Elena Tadlock and Samantha Wisdom, who he considered as his daughters,  brothers, Billy Merritt and his wife Geraldine of Seminole, Oklahoma, Wesley Green Jr. of Wewoka, Oklahoma, 5 sisters Kizzie Wildcat and her husband Jay of Wetumka, Oklahoma, Linda Martin of Prague, Oklahoma, Mary Woods of Maud, Oklahoma, Pat Bunner of Morris, Oklahoma, Margie Bunner Kelly of Gleenpool, Oklahoma;  grandchildren, Donovan Estrada, Nicholas Carter, Gabrielle Gallegos, Oscar Gerald Bunner, Nathaniel Tre Bunner, Lilly Della Louise Bunner, Donna Hibbert, Daniel Hibbert, Timothy Strickland, Zachary Strickland, Mia Strickland, Spirit Bunner and Javion Panoske; great-grandchildren Marshal Estrada, Kameron Estrada, Akasha Strickland and Logan Thomas Hess and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his companion; June Carpitcher, his mother and step-father; Wesley and Cora (Lena) Green, father; David Bunner, grandparents; Charlie and Winey (Joshua) Lena, brothers; David Larry Bunner, Kenneth Mosey Bunner, Charles Merritt and Gary Michael Bunner and sisters; Brenda Lee (Bunner) Casey and Ostie Harjo.

Viewing for Oscar will be on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A wake service is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.  Curtis Kinney will officiate the service.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Billy Merritt and Curtis Kinney officiating. Interment will follow at the Douglas-Fixico Family Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be: Glen Lena, Jonas Lena, MvSkoke Yargee, David Lena, Mose Merritt and Gary Lena.

Honorary Bearers will be: Donovan Estrada, Nicholas Carter, Tim Strickland, Daniel Hibbert, Leon Lena Jr., Nathaniel Bunner, Oscar Gerald Bunner, Zackary Strickland and Shawn Hibbert.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
