Larry Allen Smith

Larry Allen Smith, age 77 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church west of Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.  Fr. Joseph Schwarz will officiate, and burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Gregory Smith, Andrew Smith, Joseph Semtner, Stephen Semtner, Tom Blackwell, and Mark Mortimer.  Honorary bearers are Jeffrey Smith, Richard Semtner, David Semtner, Paul Semtner, Herman Clark, and Travis Smith.  The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, November the 2nd.    

Larry was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 24, 1943 to William “Allen” Smith and Rowena “Faye” (Carney) Smith.  He attended Capitol Hill High School, graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Central State University, and he was an Inventory Manager for Tinker Air Force Base.  He proudly served in the Air Force Reserves and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  He married Ann Marie Semtner June 22, 1968 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Larry loved restoring and repairing old cars and many other vintage items.  He liked to figure out how things work and could fix almost anything.  He also loved helping people.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Smith of the home; four sons, Travis Smith and wife, Melodie of Oklahoma City, Gregory Smith of Princeton, Texas, Jeffrey Smith of the home; and Andrew Smith of Konawa; one sister, JoAnne Stevenson of Dallas, Texas; and three grandchildren, Madeline, Brianna, and Rebecca Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Faye Smith; his daughter, Alicia Smith; and one brother-in-law, David Stevenson.
