Kalena McKee Obituary

Kalena Kay McKee, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother sister and aunt passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023 in Shawnee, Oklahoma after fighting a courageous battle with cancer and years of  quadriplegia. Her courage and positive attitude was an inspiration for all who knew her.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Pastor Jim Landelius of Sapulpa Seven Day Adventist Church will officiate the service.

Kalena was born on October 31, 1962 in Nashville, Tennessee to Bill McKee and Janelle Marsh.  Her Father was in the Air Force so she attended school in many cities in the United States and abroad.  Eventually she completed her GED.

Kalena enjoyed music and her favorite singer was Eddie Vedder.  She was a huge fan of NASCAR and had favorite drivers that she rooted for.  One of the highlights of her life was attending a NASCAR race.  She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and watched faithfully.  Her favorite quarterback was Tony Romo.

There are some things the family would like to share about Kalena.  She was both a writer and a poet with a quick wit and a memory like an elephant!  She had a keen sense of humor and a laugh that was spontaneous and contagious.  She loved her family deeply and she was giving to a fault.  Kalena never wanted anyone to worry about her so she was always upbeat and comical even though she may have been in pain and really felt like crying.  Kalena developed a deep faith and commitment to God over the past several years and that knowledge is an encouragement and consolation to her family.

She is preceded in death by her father, Bill McKee and daughter, Cassie McKee.  She is survived by her partner and caretaker, Mark Daniel, mother, Janelle Eichhorn of Oklahoma, step-mother, Sandy McKee of Texas, her son Tim McKee and partner, Rachel of Oklahoma, her sister, Tonya McKee and partner, Amanda, of Texas, brother, Billy McKee of Oklahoma, step-sister Ruth Morris and husband, Jim, of Mississippi, grandchildren Josh of Texas, Emma, William and Gwendolyn of Oklahoma, several nieces and nephews and fur babies Jack, Friday and Jobe.
