James Harold "Jim" Phillips, age 84 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away November 7, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma.
A graveside service with military honors is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2023 at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate.
Jim was born February 14, 1939 in Rayne, Louisiana to O. D. Phillips and Helen (LaFluer) Phillips. He graduated from Eastland High School in Texas, and attended college for a year. He worked for Brown and Root Industry as a welder for many years, and worked on the construction of the OG&E Power Plant in Konawa. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army as a Sergeant from 1958 until 1964. Jim married Betty S. Hisaw on May 4, 1964 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was a member of the NRA, and he loved fishing and hunting. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Phillips of the home; one sister, Judy Underwood of Eastland, Texas; and one grandson, Jarod Phillips of Konawa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Harold Phillips, Jr.; one brother, Danny Ray “Butch” Phillips; and numerous aunts and uncles from Louisiana.
