Harvey Gene Arthur Mixer

Seminole resident Harvey Gene Arthur Mixer passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, in Seminole.

Harvey, the son of Roy and Helen Mixer was born May 10, 1951, in Oklahoma City.  Harvey grew up in McLoud OK, working on Higdon’s Family Farm, he thought of them as his second family.  He graduated from McLoud High School with the class of 1969.  He then attended East Central University in Ada and enlisted in the US Marine Corp.  While attending ECU, he met Stephanie Baker.  On February 12, 1971, he and Stephanie were married in Ada.  Upon completion of his degree, he went to work for Shawnee Milling Company as a traffic manager.  He and Stephanie moved to Seminole after she completed her degree and made their home there.  He enjoyed fishing of any kind with his grandsons, playing golf, watching OU sports and rooting for any Oklahoma team.  He would talk about OKC Thunder to college sports with his grandson William. Harvey could tell a good story to anyone that would listen.

Harvey loved his family will all his heart, his words were harsh at times, but he was always coming from a place of best intentions.  Mental health and a broken heart took his life, but he was a proud man with brutal honesty and integrity unmatched.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Helen Mixer; brothers, George and Harry Mixer; and his wife, Stephanie Jude Mixer.

Harvey is survived by a daughter, Courtney Michelle Mixer and her spouse, Kyle Gibson, of Shawnee; three grandchildren, Gabriel Mixer Gibson, William Wallace Gibson, and Kiergan Jude Gibson; two brothers, Richard Mixer of Palm Springs CA., and Warren Mixer of Portland OR.; and many other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023, from 1:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. at the Reynolds Wellness Center, located at 1001 E Strother Ave in Seminole.  Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
