George Edward Howell

George Edward Howell, age 80, passed away at his home in Seminole, Oklahoma on January 15, 2021. He was born May 31, 1940 in Norman, Oklahoma to parents Frances Arthur Howell and Etta Marie Odessa (McClaskey) Howell. He married Shirley A. Bender on July 2, 1960 in Norman, Oklahoma. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp.

George worked as a hospital custodian, a jailer and a custodian at the University of Oklahoma. He enjoyed reading, westerns, writing stories, playing dominoes and was quite a prankster. He could tell you the biggest yarn story, having you believe every single word and none of it would be true.

George is survived by his wife Shirley Howell, of the home, his sons; George A. Howell of Alabama, James E. Howell of Seminole, Oklahoma, daughter; Rebecca Boyanton and her husband Brian of Seminole, Oklahoma, his brother; Fred Howell and his wife Christy of South Carolina, eight grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, one daughter and one grandson.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
