Derris Lee Davenport

Derris Lee Davenport, 79 year-old longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away January 13, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born June 3, 1941 in Empire City, Oklahoma to parents James Thomas Davenport and Lula Mae (Branch) Davenport. He was raised in Orlando, Oklahoma and due to oilfield work, he was re-located to several parts of Oklahoma, settling in Seminole for the past 50 years. He married Thrisa Lee on June 23, 1995 in Maud, Oklahoma and she passed away August 25, 2000. Derris served his country in the United States Army.

Derris worked as an oilfield pumper for ONYX. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Oklahoma, the Order of the Eastern Star #Maud Chapter, Maud-Konawa Masonic Lodge #106. He enjoyed watching westerns, playing solitaire and word searches. He was a woodworker, fisherman and auto mechanic.

Left to cherish Derris’ memory are his sons; Robert L. Davenport and his wife Patci of Mannford, Oklahoma and Wayne A. Budzene of Perkins, Oklahoma, daughters; Gwenlyn K. Budzene of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Barbara J. Byram and her husband John of Perkins, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Brendeyn Davenport and spouse Shelby, Quinten Davenport, Jacob Mack, Ashley Osland, Madison Cannon, Dustin Budzene, Aereial Budzene, Angela Budzene and Dalton Budzene, numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, three brothers and wife Terry.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.

Casket bearers will be Robert Davenport, Quinten Davenport, Roy Davenport, Jacob Mack, John Byram and Doug Glenn.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
