Danny Ray Reynolds, long-time Seminole County resident, passed away at his home on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 at the age of 69.  Services will be held Thursday, Nov. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Seminole Church of Christ under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Danny was born on June 24, 1952 to Wayne and Hazel Reynolds.  He grew up in the community of Little, north of Seminole, where his family owned and operated Mable Jackson Grocery Store for nearly 50 years.  He graduated from Seminole High School in 1970, where he played baseball and football for the Chieftains.

Danny received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1975.  After working as a registered pharmacist for several retail drug companies, he became the hospital pharmacist for Seminole Medical Center.  He and his family moved to Gallup, New Mexico where he worked as the Director of Pharmacy for Rehobeth McKinley Christian Hospital from 1986 to 1997.  After a career in consultant pharmacist service, serving primarily nursing care facilities through Sequoia Services, OmniCare/CVS, he retired in 2018.  He has continued to work as a part-time pharmacist at Seminole Drug and was one of the local medical professionals who established and operated the Seminole Free Clinic.

Danny led a life of service to his church, his family and his community.  He served as a Deacon at the Seminole Church of Christ.  He achieved rank of “Life” Boy Scout and later chaperoned Scouting camps, coached little league baseball, delivered “meals on Wheels” to shut-ins and was always helping mow lawns and handle household chores for church and family friends.

He was a lifelong fan of the University of Oklahoma Sooners and the St. Louis Cardinals.  He also loved following his kids and grandkids in their sports competitions.

Family gatherings and activities were among his favorite past-times.  He enjoyed fishing, playing games, grilling and being with friends and family.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents.  Wayne and Hazel Reynolds, his father-in-law Cecil Sullivan, and his sister Linda Reynolds Helbach.

Danny married Jill Diane Sullivan on June 2, 1972.  They would have celebrated their 50th anniversary next summer.  He is survived by his wife, Jill, of the home; his mother-in-law, Jerry Sullivan of Seminole; one sister, Lana Reynolds of Seminole; three children and their spouses:  Brad and Janelle Reynolds of Fort Worth, Texas, Shelly and Brent Mercer of Owasso, and Greg and Jaime Reynolds of Highlands Ranch, Colo.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren:  Christian and Skyler Cato of San Antonio, Texas; Carson and Caden Cato of Fort Worth, Texas; Chyler Reynolds of Fort Worth, Texas; Preston Mercer of Mustang; Madi and Grady Mercer of Owasso; Gracie, Ellie, Ruby and Jett Reynolds of Highlands Ranch, Colo.  He would have become a first-time great-grandfather in March, 2022. Arpoika Daniels, minister of the Seminole Church of Christ, will officiate the service. Burial will be at the Little Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be:  Brent Mercer, Preston Mercer, Grady Mercer, Christian Cato, Carson Cato and Brandon Moreland.

Caden Cato, Jett Reynolds, Jim Hardin, Geoff Nielsen, Jake Nielsen, Pedro Colón, Larry Ernst, Norman Boggs and the Elders and Deacons of the Seminole Church of Christ will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The family has requested that memorial donations be sent to the Dan Reynolds Scholarship Fund c/o Seminole State College Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 351, Seminole, OK  74818 to establish a fund to assist students planning to enter the field of pharmacology.
