Barbara LaRue (Poague) Sanders

Barbara LaRue (Poague) Sanders, age 87 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Prairie Estates in Frisco, Texas.

A memorial graveside service is planned for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2020 at the Vamoosa Cemetery Pavilion under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.  Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate.

Barbara was born August 2, 1932 in La Union, New Mexico to Emery and Lessie Jewel (Etheridge) Poague.  She was a high school graduate, and she was a Pink Lady for Valley View Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma.   She married Bob Sanders January 22, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri.  She had many talents as an artist, musician, songwriter, seamstress, and a good cook.  Barbara was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Konawa, and she loved God and her church.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Bellanca “Bankie” Barnett of Shawnee; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Lessie Poague; her husband, Bob Sanders; and one sister, Elene Whitson.
