Barbara Ann (Sandel) Jones

Barbara Ann (Sandel) Jones, age 83 passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2021 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Konawa, Oklahoma.  Chaplain Keith Cole will officiate, and burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery.  Casket bearers are Landyn Dye, Dan Walker, Les Morse, Cody Jeffcoat, Ty Huckleberry, Eric Dye, and Patrick Simpson.

Barbara was born January 21, 1938, in Huntsville, Texas to Lee Harrison Sandel and Susie Cornelia (Thomas) Sandel.  She attended East Central University receiving her Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degrees in Education Administration.  She married Oscar Douglas Jones July 3, 1957 in Pasadena, Texas.  From 1957 until 1972, she and her husband, Doug lived in the Houston, Texas area.  Barbara and Doug lived in Alaska for ten years where they both worked as educators.  Barbara was of the Methodist faith.  She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and had a great love of animals.

She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Morse and husband, Les of Douglas, Alaska, Angela Walker and husband, Dan of Austin, Texas, and Brenda Dye of Shawnee, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Tera Simpson, Christen Walker, Lauryn Jeffcoat, Jordyn Dye, and Landyn Dye; six great grandchildren, McKinley Eakens, Sean Jones, Walker Eakens, Steven Jones, Hadley Jeffcoat, Suttyn Jeffcoat; and  Mason Simpson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Susie “Connie” Sandel; her husband, Oscar Douglas Jones on August 10, 2011; four brothers, John, Lee, Charles, and Robert; four sisters, Louise, Margie, Dorothy, and Rena; and one grandson, C. Douglas Jones.
