William "Poppa" Noris West

William Noris West, Oklahoma City, OK resident passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in Oklahoma City at the age of 64. William was born on January 18, 1961 in Denver, CO to William West and Demple (Dunlap) Tellie. He graduated from Pleasant Grove School. He graduated from Gordon Cooper Vocational School. William moved to Oklahoma City in his adult years. He then attended Oklahoma Cosmetology School. William retired from his work as a cosmetologist for Walmart. William accepted Christ at an early age and attended Kingdom Hall. He then attended A Baptist Church in Midwest City until his health began to fail him. William loved his family and friends. He enjoyed music and dancing and was a member of the RAIN Alliance.

William is survived by one brother, Phillip West; his uncles, Richard Cochran (Cleo) and Bennie (Juanita) Cochran; aunts, Dora Thomas, Lu’Retta Hornsby (Darrel) and Tillie Thomas; niece, Crystal Tellie; nephews, Curtis Tellie Jr. and Eric Tellie; a host of great nieces and nephews and many other family and friends. William’s family extends special recognition to Miss Quana and Miss Georgia.

William was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Curtis Tellie.

Those serving as casket bearers will be Terry Simpkins, Patrick Thomas, Johnny Bizzell, Albert Green, DeShawn Beavers and C J Morrison. Honorary casket bearers will be Richard Cochran, Curtis Tellie Jr. and Benny Cochran. Flower girls will be his Great nieces, and honorary flower girls are Dora Thomas, Tillie Bizzell, LuRetta Hornsby, and Crystel Tellie.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 10th, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK with Pastor Jonathan Simpkins officiating. Interment will follow at St. Matthew’s Cemetery in Seminole, OK. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
