Seminole resident, Walter Newton Dinwiddie, 78, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Seminole.
Walter, the son of Cecil and Lillie (Saxon) Dinwiddie, was born March 30, 1947, in Seminole. He graduated from Bowlegs High School with the class of 1966. Walter proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, during the TET offensive. After returning from Vietnam, he pursued a career in the oilfield with Baroid as a mud engineer, and Donley Drilling Fluids, before venturing out on his own by starting Dinwiddie Drilling Fluids. On September 30, 1983, Walter married Paula Ward, in Paris, Texas. With the decline of the oilfield, Walter then began his career with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, he worked his way through the ranks, obtained his bachelor’s degree, and then retired as warden, after 24 years of service. Walter enjoyed hunting and fishing, running his dozer, and spending time at the baseball fields, but there was nothing more important to him than spending time with his family. Walter was a faithful member of Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church.
