Tony Lenora

Seminole resident Tony Lenora, 99, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at his home.

Tony, the son of Gaetano “Tom” and Nunzia (Maisano) Lenora, was born May 7, 1927, in Krebs. After graduating from McAlester High School, he attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he studied watch repair.

Tony proudly served in the United States Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Fleet during World War II. Following his naval service, he joined the United States Army National Guard, continuing his dedication to serving his country. When the Korean War began, he was activated with his National Guard unit and served in the United States Army.

After returning home from military service, Tony began a long career with the United States Postal Service. He worked as a mail carrier before eventually serving at the window of the Seminole Post Office. Outside of work, Tony was a skilled handyman who never found a project he couldn’t master. Tony enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren as they competed in all manners of sport activities. In later life, he enjoyed “word find” puzzles and finding ways to save money!

Tony was an active and faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he generously devoted his time and talents to the construction of the church and rectory in the early ‘60s. Thereafter, if the church needed repair, Tony was there to help. Tony also cherished his fellowship with the church’s men’s association.

After retiring from the post office, Tony spent nearly 20 years working at the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum. He especially enjoyed driving the train, feeding the fish, and interacting with children and families throughout the community.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Carlo; a sister, Rosie; a daughter, Kyla Nunnelley; and his first wife, Anita Jean Lenora.

Tony is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Guy and Cathy Lenora of Bartlesville and Larry and Trish Lenora of Chandler; his daughters Angelina Lenora, Amanda Lenora, and Lucia Lenora, all of Seminole; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

Tony is also survived by his former spouse and mother of three of his children, Gloria Barrett. Words cannot begin to express the gratitude Tony’s children have for the care, love, and dedication Gloria provided to Tony for the last eighteen months of his life. If it were not for her care, there is little doubt that he would not have lived as long as he did. Those months were difficult but also precious, and all of Tony’s children love and cherish Gloria for her efforts, which literally helped keep their “Papa” alive

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 5th, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
