Theresa Ann (Powell) Ahgoom, 55, resident of Holdenville, OK passed away, Monday, August 24, 2015 at 11:40am at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Theresa was born on July 29, 1960 to James John and Clara Jane (Tims) Powell. Theresa attended school at Douglas High and Central High Schools in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Central High School but was a devoted Douglas Trojan to her heart. Ms. Ahgoom was an enrolled member of the Creek Nation and a descendent of the Seminole and Choctaw tribes. She was very proud to be Native American and love to dance. One of her most memorable accomplishments was being crowned Miss Seminole Nation 1969-1970 and then seeing her daughters being crowned as well; Tiffany Ahgoom 2003-2004 and Brittany Ahgoom 2013-2014 & 2014-2015. Theresa worked for the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma for over 8 years at the Older American Program (OAP) as the Lead Cook. She loved her job and the elders she cooked for. Theresa is survived by her husband, Steven Ahgoom of the home; two daughters: Tiffany Ahgoom of Holdenville and Brittany Neconish and husband Ryan of Holdenville; three sisters: Mary Bowers of Oklahoma City, Vanessa Powell of Seminole, and Brenda Powell of Shawnee; three brothers: Dennis Powell of Shawnee; Ronnie Powell and wife Jessica of Shawnee; and Darrell Powell of Shawnee; one soon-to-be grandson; 13 nieces and nephews; and 6 great nieces and nephews. Theresa is preceded in death by her father, James Powell, and her mother, Clara Powell. Funeral Services will be at 2:00pm, Friday, August 28, 2015 at Many Springs Baptist Church in Holdenville, OK with Rev. Frank Moppin, Rev. Leon Postoak, and Rev. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Powell Family Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole. Serving as pallbearers are: Freddie Lewis, Camron Price, Jeremy Bowers, Bunny Powell, Danny Powell, and Roy Powell. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Leo Moppin, Jessie Moppin, Ryan Neconish, and Chris Powell. There will be a viewing on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home.
