Teresa Marie Wise

Meeker resident Teresa Marie Wise, 79, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026, at her home.

Teresa, the daughter of Samsochee Harjo and Ida Mae Yahola, was born November 5, 1946, in Wewoka. She attended Wewoka Public Schools. On June 1, 1971, she married Evans “Peanut” Wise in Seminole. They shared 50 years of marriage before his passing on July 28, 2021.

Teresa was a wonderful cook who enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samsochee Harjo and Ida Mae Yahola; her father, Soloman Tiger; her husband, Evans Wise Sr.; her sons, Evans Wise Jr. and Eastman Wise; her brothers, Leo Fish and Percy Harjo; her sisters, Patricia Yahola, Carolyn Blanchard, and Mildred Harjo; and her grandsons, Ryan C. Burchett and Bradley K. Billie.

Teresa is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Sandra Billie of Seminole; her daughters and sons-in-law, Lawanna and Albert Eagle of Tahlequah, Sytina Hendrix of Oklahoma City, Lisa and Chris Burchett of Shawnee, Alisha and Benny Valdez of Fayetteville, NC, and Kristie and Rahfiel Lowry of Oklahoma City; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Nathaniel Harjo of Seminole and Bruce Harjo of Shawnee; her sister, Delois Harjo of Earlsboro; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
