Rosie Mae (Island) Woodfork

Rosie Mae (Island) Woodfork, age 82, passed away at her home in Norman, Oklahoma on February 23, 2023. She was born February 14, 1941 in Lima, Oklahoma to parents Joe Island, Sr. and Annie (Shelton) Island. Rosie grew up in Lima and later moved to Seminole, Oklahoma and eventually made her home in Norman. She married Jesse Woodfork, Jr. on August 28, 1959. He passed away on October 27, 1994.

Rosie was a high school graduate. She worked at Tinker Air Force base in Parts Production until her retirement. She enjoyed shopping and was a giver of her fancy hats and jewelry.

Left to cherish Rosie’s memory are her sons; Kevin Woodfork and wife Donna and Samuel Woodfork and his wife Kellye, all of Norman, Oklahoma, daughters; Dee Dee Grayson and her husband Jerry, Freda Woodfork and Karla Woodfork-Pitre all of Norman, Oklahoma, Koretta McArthur and husband Brian of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Kozetta Chapman of DFW, Texas, her brother; Oscar Island and his wife Bobbie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, aunts; Earnscell Shelton and Mary Louise McGee, her best friend Minnie Hinex and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Karoletta Woodfork, four sisters and three brothers.

Family will greet visitors on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.

The funeral service for Rosie will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday March 4, 2023 with Pastor Michael Ford officiating at Cross Pointe Church, 2601 24th Ave. SE, Norman, Oklahoma. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, east of Seminole, Oklahoma.

Casket bearers will be Jesse Woodfork, Sam Woodfork, Jr., Kevin Woodfork II, Jerry Grayson II, Joshua Grayson and Josiah Grayson. Her nephews will be honorary bearers.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
