Robin Lynn Rains

January 30, 1958 — August 2, 2023

Welty resident Robin Rains passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at her home, at the age of 65.

Robin, the daughter of Calloway and Normandie (Flowers) Mourton, was born January 30, 1958, in Santa Ana, California.  Robin was quite the tomboy in her childhood years, often running around with her brothers, riding bikes and building forts. Robin was a girl who most enjoyed spending her time outside. She had an avid interest for horses starting as a young girl and her love only blossomed as she grew into an adult. She enjoyed sharing that passion with her children and grandchildren. Robin was someone who cherished time spent with her family. She created so many wonderful memories that we will pass down to future generations. Some things they enjoyed doing together were horseback riding, fishing, camping, bowling, family dinners and attending local festivities.

During Robin’s time in California, she ran 'Rains Guest Home' where she cared for the elderly. There is where patients became family, and she discovered her love for helping others in need. In 1993 she moved her family to Prague, Oklahoma. She worked at Wrangler for 10 years excelling in many different areas of the plant. She then went on to get her degree in Phlebotomy at Wes Watkins Technology Center in 2004. She had a great passion for caring for others and finally found a career she would love for years to come. She worked at Stroud Hospital, Black Hawk Health Center and then finally found her home at Prague Hospital where she worked for many years.  Robin loved being a phlebotomist and being around patients. They often took a liking to her and would call or text her to be sure she was working if they needed to have blood work done.

Anyone who knew Robin knew her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren. Her grandkids were often at her house for the weekends being spoiled with love and laughter. Robin seldom missed any school, sporting or activities her grandchildren had going on, she truly loved being a Grandma and was so proud of each of them. In 2017 Robin reunited with the love of her life John Rains Jr. and the two of them spent their days together enjoying each other’s company. Robin has left a lasting impression of kindness and compassion towards those she has met throughout her life and her memory will continue to live through them.

She will be greatly missed for her contagious smile, laugh, generosity and sense of humor. She was truly a beautiful lady inside and out.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Calloway and Normandie Mourton, and a brother, Kenny Mourton.

Robin is survived by John Rains Jr.; her children, Nicholas Gazelle, of Prague, Janaya and Clavin Beaver, of Welty, and Josh and Twila Rains, of Macomb.
