Robert Murphy Thompson, 73, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
Bob was born at home in Hillsboro, TX on September 8, 1951. The youngest of 10 to Nathel and Jimmie (Bolles) Thompson.
He was married to Anna (Willoughby) Thompson from 1974 to 1992; they had two daughters.
He proudly served in the US Air Force in the Vietnam War. While in the Air Force, Bob served as a jet engine mechanic, learning skills that he would apply during his life and share with his family and friends. After the war Bob became a truck driver, but when he wasn’t on the road, and sometimes when he was, he was also a mechanic. Bob enjoyed restoring cars, watching sports, particularly OU football, but nothing was as important as spending time with his grandkids.
Bob was a faithful member of the Seminole First Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathel and Jimmie Thompson; siblings, Charlie Thompson, Mary Uptmor, Wilbert Thompson, Nathel Thompson Jr., Patsy Thompson, Dorthy O’Pry, and Addie Thompson; daughter, Lena Hearrell; and wife Anna Thompson.
Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Warren “Neil” Rattan Sr.; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn Forgey and husband Ross, Emily Hearrell, Taylor Hearrell, Tyler Hearrell, Cami Rattan, Warren Rattan Jr., and Ryker Rattan; brother, Mickey Thompson; sister, Linda “Sue” Thompson; special friend Larry Sawyer; and many other family members and friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, September 12, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, with Brother Larry Sawyer officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
