Richard Frederick Hathaway

Richard Frederick Hathaway, Seminole, OK resident, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, in Norman, OK at the age of 73. Richard was born on August 21, 1950 in Shawnee, OK to Ralph Wendell and Martha Jean (Swink) Hathaway. He proudly served in the United States Army and National Guard and served two tours in Vietnam. He lived in many places in Oklahoma, Kansas and even Germany. Around 1980 he moved to Seminole where he lived for the remaining part of his life. He married the love of his life, Gaylan Lee Belshe in June of 1979. Richard enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, cross stitching and word puzzles. 

Richard is survived by sons, Jerry Williams and wife, Ronda of Seminole, OK and Joel Belshe and wife, Christina of Seminole, OK; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many other family and friends.

Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Gaylan L. Hathaway; father, Ralph Wendell Hathaway; mother, Martha Jean Hathaway; brothers, Ralphe aka Pete Hathaway and Bow Hathaway.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK. 

A Celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Seminole, Oklahoma. Chaplain Jerry R. Williams and Matt Riffle will be officiating.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
