Peggy Sue (Cowen) Stinnett, age 77 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away May 1, 2026 at Heritage Village Nursing Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at the Assembly of God Church in Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. James Williams and Dan Gomez will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Cody Stinnett, Travis Stinnett, Colton Stinnett, Dan Gomez, James McGee, and Timothy Cowen. Honorary bearers are T.J. Stinnett, Nathan Cowen, and Jason Cowen. The family will greet guests from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Peggy was born August 25, 1948 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to George Otis Cowen and Flora Bell (Long) Cowen. She attended Moore High School, and married Darrell Ray Stinnett June 28, 1965 in Moore, Oklahoma. Peggy loved antique collecting and singing, and she loved to cook.
She is survived by one son, Troy Stinnett and wife, Julie of Konawa; a nephew that they help to raise, James McGee and wife, Mandy of Blanchard, Oklahoma; two brothers, Eddie Cowen of Harrah, Oklahoma, and Raymond Cowen of Okemah, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Cody, Travis, T.J., and Colton Stinnett, and Tara Gomez; eleven great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Cowen and Flora Eakens.
