Peggy Sorrell

Peggy Lanadine Furr, was born January 23rd, of 1940, in Hulbert, Oklahoma. As a teenager, she and her family, Mother, Father, 3 sisters and a brother, moved to Live Oak, California.

She met Jim Sorrell in high school and they married in 1959. Their family grew with the birth of Cindy, in 1962, and then Steve, in 1965.

Jim and Peggy, purchased their first home, in Chico, California, in 1974. They raise their family in that house, and lived there until moving to Seminole, Oklahoma, in 2006.

In 1980, Peggy followed her dreams and went to school, to become a hairdresser. 9 months later, she began her career at a beauty shop called, The Chatterbox. She and her coworker, Suzy Mars, purchased this shop, and change the name to Marsorel’s. She worked as a hairdresser, for over 2 decades, before retiring in the early 2000s.

Granddaughter Christina (born to Cindy, 1983), gifted Jim and Peggy with three beautiful great granddaughters, Amaryah, Gracie, and Wavy. Those girls, were the joy of Peggy’s life.

Peggy was barely 5 feet tall, and less than 100 pounds, and was graced with the kindest spirit ever bestowed on a human being, and an inner strength and resolve, to be envied, and the singing voice of an angel.

Peggy was predeceased, by her beloved husband, Jim, who passed in June of this year, and daughter Cindy (2025).

Jim and Peggy’s 67-year marriage, weathered all the storms of the decades, and stands as an example for us all. They will truly be missed.

Peggy is survived by her son Steve, granddaughter Christina, son-in-law Jason and great granddaughters, Amaryah, Gracie and Wavy.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
