Myrtle Ellen (Coy) Wylie of Seminole, Oklahoma passed away on February 12, 2022, at the age of 66 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born in Keota, Oklahoma on July 20, 1955, to Hobart Coy and Ruby Jane (Loudermilk)Coy. Myrtle graduated from Keota High School in 1973. In high school she played basketball and attained an All-State title. She attended Eastern Oklahoma State at Wilburton and finished her degree at East Central University in Ada in 1987. She taught Business and Computers along with sponsoring Yearbook and other duties at Paden Public Schools. She spent her entire career at Paden and retired after 23 years. She was nicknamed “Star” by her students.
Myrtle enjoyed traveling, shopping until dropping, going to the movies, staying up late and sleeping in, rodeos, farm living, riding horses, watching sports and was an avid photographer. She was incredibly indecisive about even the smallest purchases. She loved country music and was George Strait’s number one fan. She was a member of the Seminole Church of Christ and had an active role in their women’s group. She also volunteered her time helping with the local Meals-on-Wheels program. Myrtle loved to play games and spend time with friends and family, especially her grandbabies.
Left to cherish Myrtle’s memory are her son; William Coley of Seminole, Oklahoma, her daughter; Denese Wylie Cheatwood and her husband Nick of Wewoka, her loving companion; Tony Dix, her brother; Kenny Coy and his wife Jan of Michigan, her grandchildren; Stone and Sage Coley, Cole Cheatwood and wife Mallory and Jordan Dobson and her husband Brannon, her great-grandchildren; Wylie and Wrynn Cheatwood and Braxton and Cashion Dobson. She was preceded in death by her parents; Hobart and Ruby Coy, husband; Roy Wylie and her brother Clint Coy.
The funeral service for Myrtle will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the Seminole Church of Christ, 12040 N. SH-99 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Arpoika Daniels will officiate the service.
Casket bearers will be Stone Coley, Brannon Dobson, Wyatt Coy, Tyler Lee, Les Waller and Lyle Waller. Honorary bearers will be Cole Cheatwood, Shawn Coy, Lynn Warden, Joe French and Paul Alexander.
