Ada

Minnie Louise Hardin Nokes, longtime Ada resident, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at her home, with her family by her side.  Minnie was born on October 28, 1938, in Wanette, Oklahoma, to Benjamin Leslie and Ruby (Briggs) Hardin.  In 1945 she moved with her family to the family farm south of Ada.  She attended Ahloso school and in 1956 she graduated from Stonewall High School where she was a "hot shot" basketball player.  She always had a love for sports.  After high school she relocated to

Colorado for many years.  Minnie had a very deep love for the mountains of Southwest Colorado.  She later transferred to New Mexico where she retired from the Bureau of Land Management as an Executive Assistant.

Minnie was named after her grandmother.  However, due to her very sweet and kind nature she was given the nickname "Shugo".  She took great pride in her appearance and was a very proper and beautiful lady. Minnie loved her family dearly and treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Minnie is survived by her son, William "Wid" Cope and wife, Jenny, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Sheri Haney and husband, Roy, Ada and Karen Lefler and husband, Terry, Fitzhugh; a brother, Jim Hardin and wife, Donna, Seminole; her seven grandchildren, Brandon Lefler and his wife Myka, Wes Haney and his wife Tracy, Shawna Williams and her husband Bubba, Rachel Cope, Tara Key and her husband Kyle, Dylan Cope and his wife Callie and Chelsey Cope; ten great grandchildren and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Nokes, her parents, her two sisters, a nephew and her first husband, Wayne Cope.
