Melissa Dawn Holahta

Shawnee resident Melissa Dawn Holahta, 39, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025, in Oklahoma City.

Melissa, the daughter of Marilyn (McCulley) Moore and Joe Holahta, was born September 15, 1985, in Ada. Melissa attended high school at Westmoore. In the early 2000s, she met Vincent “Mike” Harjo, Melissa and Mike spent the next 20 years together. She enjoyed spending time with family, laughing and joking around, and she was always in a good spirit, and she loved watching Greys Anatomy. Melissa was a faithful member of Sand Creek Church in Wewoka.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melony Harjo, and by a sister, Dena Phillips.

Melissa is survived by her husband, Mike Harjo, of the home; daughters, Maliyah Harjo, Desiree Harjo, and Raven Harjo; four sisters, Cheryl Dunn, of Shawnee, Lavena Dunn, of Oklahoma City, Tosha Johnson, of Shawnee, and Denise Phillips, of Shawnee; four brothers, Richard Dunn, of Midwest City, Rodney Holahta, of Midwest City, Jonah Dunn, of Lawton, and Benji Holahta, of Shawnee; numerous grandkids, and many other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Bradley Tebe, Isaiah Harjo, Stacey Harjo, Rodney Holahta, Brandon Harjo, and Mekko Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Rodney Holahta, Benji Holahta, Richard Dunn, Bruce Warrington and Dillon “Kvlone” Blackwell.

Melissa will be available to view from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

A wake service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 7:30 P.M. at Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church in Wewoka.

Services will be Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church, with Brothers Sandy Harjo and Steve Holahta officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
