Seminole resident, Maurice “Bolo” Spencer, 59, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025, at his home.
Bolo, the son of Wilbur Mason and Ina Spencer, was born October 11, 1965, in Shawnee. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School, with the class of 1984. He proudly served in the United States National Guard. Bolo worked for many years for the City of Seminole, particularly officiating and umpiring basketball, baseball, and softball games. On May 15, 2012, he married Ann Sanapaw. Ann passed away earlier this year, on March 23, 2025. He was well known in the Seminole community as an umpire at the quad and refereeing at local schools. Bolo was an avid fan of OU and The OKC Thunder, and he loved officiating ball games.
He was preceded in death by his two wives, Angie and Ann, and by his parents.
Bolo is survived by his son, Cruz Martinez, of Holdenville; two brothers, Timothy Cloud, of Wewoka, and Thomas Gentry, of Seminole; four sisters, Sondra Cloud, of Seminole, Charlene Cloud, of Seminole, Balinda Spencer, of Seminole, Charmaine Scott and Ronald, of Eufaula; along with many other family members and friends.
Casket bearers will be Ryan Cloud, Aaron Scott, Josh Cramer, Randy Winrow, Chris Brown, and Yoney Spencer. Honorary casket bearers are Cruz James, John Cramer, Cruz Martinez, Mike Lowe, and Tyrone Washington, Trent Lena and Chris Spencer.
A wake service is scheduled for Monday, September 1, 2025, at 7:00 P.M. at Hitchitee Church.
Services will be Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Hitchitee Church in Seminole, with Rex Hailey officiating. Interment will follow at Hitchitee Cemetery in Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
