In Loving Memory of Jean Lytle July 6, 1928 – June 16, 2025

Maudie Jean Armstrong, lovingly known to all as Jean, was born on July 6, 1928, in Maud, Oklahoma, and passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at the age of 96. Though given the name Maudie at birth, she chose to be known simply as Jean—a name that came to reflect her warmth, strength, and enduring grace.

On February 15, 1947, Jean married the love of her life, Owen Shelby Lytle. Their marriage, which spanned an extraordinary 67 years, was marked by deep devotion, unwavering support, and a love that stood firm through life’s many seasons. Together, they raised two sons, Danny Owen and Gary Don, both of whom preceded her in death.

Jean was the heart of her family—a steady, loving presence whose strength was felt in countless ways: a knowing glance, a warm meal, a stern look, a shared story. She poured her life into her family, and her legacy of love lives on through her grandchildren: Jason Lytle and his wife Renee of Elgin, OK; Eric Lytle of Ardmore, OK; Misty Lytle of Ardmore, OK; and Shane Lytle of Healdton, OK.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Erica, Rylie, Ashlynd, Austin, and Axel; her great-great-grandchild Marvin; her loving daughter-in-law, Karen Lytle of Healdton; her sister-in-law, Jean Armstrong of Borger, TX; and numerous extended family members who will continue to cherish her memory.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Owen, her sons Danny and Gary, her great-granddaughter Shelby Lytle, her parents, and her siblings. Though her absence leaves a profound void, the love and strength she gave so freely will remain a guiding light to all who knew her.

Above all, Jean had a deep and abiding faith in the Lord. She loved Jesus with all her heart, and her life was a testament to that faith—rooted in kindness, humility, and unconditional love. Her unwavering belief gave her strength in life’s hardest moments and peace in her final days.

Funeral service details will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK followed by a small graveside service at Resthaven Cemetery in Shawnee, OK.

Jean’s life was one of quiet dignity, deep faith, and boundless love. She leaves behind not only a legacy of family, but an enduring imprint on the hearts of all who were blessed to be part of her life.
