Matthew Glenn “Barney” Wood, 78 year old longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Seminole Care and Rehabilitation Center in Seminole.  He was born August 20, 1937 in Wolf, Oklahoma to parents, John Wood and Amanda (Factor) Wood. Following graduation Barney served in the United States Navy. Barney was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma the “Tusekia Harjo” Band.  He was also a member of the High Spring Indian Church in Konawa, Oklahoma. Barney is survived by three sons, Tim Wood (Terri Ford) of Seminole, Oklahoma, John "Buzz" Wood of Seminole, Oklahoma, Vernon Harjo of Texas; four daughters, Carolyn Yarbrough (Michael) of Seminole, Oklahoma, Marilyn Wood of Arizona, Glenda Lena (Mark) of Seminole, Oklahoma, Linda Wood of Kansas; three brothers, Wallace Wood (Carol) of Arizona, Virgil Wood Sr. of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Donald Ray Wood (Christine) of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one sister, Barbara Ann Washington (George) of Seminole, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Barney was preceded in death by his parents, John and Amanda (Factor) Wood; by one daughter, Regina Ward; by one brother, Don Palmer; by two sisters, Mary Peel and Alma Jean Washington. A wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Jimpsey Harjo officiating.  Interment will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery located south of Seminole. Serving as casket bearers are: Matt Wood, Destry Wood, Tam Ngo-No, Chelbon Gokey, David Peel and Jayson Burr. Honorary casket bearers are: Mike Washington, Rod Washington, Damian Gokey, Aaries Gokey and Quan D Ngo. Flowers girls are: Jaxie Stawake, Lila Knox, Jada Reese and Zoey Wood.
