Marion "Maxine" (Finch) Williams , age 89 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away March 5, 2023 at her home in Konawa surrounded by her loving family.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023 at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.  Bro. Faren Coody will officiate.  The will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 Thursday Evening at the funeral home.

Maxine was born November 26, 1933 in Konawa to Hiram Thomas Finch and Leona Mae (Wilson) Finch.  After completing her education in Konawa, she worked at Mercy Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma and also at the Aldridge Hotel in Ada.  She married Walter Dunn Williams March 22, 1956 in Oklahoma City.  They were married for 57 years and lived in Ada and Byng before moving to Moore, Oklahoma in 1970.  There, she was proud of her work at Custom Developing and Finishing which developed school pictures from all over the state of Oklahoma.  They returned to Konawa in 1983.  She had a quilting business for many years out of her “quilt shack” in the back of their home.  During this time, she was also very involved in the Women’s auxiliary of the American Legion.  She served as an officer and displayed many poppy flowers for fundraising all over town.  She served breakfasts to the local veterans at the Legion Hut on Veteran’s Day in Konawa throughout the years.  Maxine was an avid sports fan and was especially a die-hard OU Sooner Football and Oklahoma Thunder fan.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Williams and husband, Efren of Plano, Texas and Terry Williams and partner, Rudy Dominguez of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Janet Robertson and husband, Larry of Moore, Oklahoma and Susan Williams-Lankford of Konawa, Oklahoma; one sister, Vickie Lynn Morris and husband, Lonny of Victoria, Texas; four grandchildren, Jon Robertson, Jill Robertson, Ryan Higginbotham, and Kyle Lankford; one great grandson, Ryker Higginbotham; and other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Leona Finch; husband, Walter Williams in 2012; and one brother, Willis “Buddy” Finch.
