Margaret Irene (McBee) Hammett

Margaret Irene (McBee) Hammett , age 66 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away November 1, 2022 at her home under Emerald Hospice care with her husband by her side.

No service is planned at this time, and cremation is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

Margaret was born November 28, 1955 at Burnet, Texas to Richard Owen McBee and Virginia Margaret (Dawson) McBee.  She graduated from Konawa High School, and married David Leon Hammett on May 30, 1975 at Vamoosa Baptist Church.  She worked for Best Yet in Perry, Oklahoma where they lived before coming back to Konawa.  Upon moving back to Konawa, Margaret worked as the Account Coordinator for Mercy Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma until her retirement.  She was a wonderful homemaker and avid gardener who loved to share with family and co-workers fresh vegetables from her garden.  Her flower gardens were always full of many varieties of beautiful flowers.

She is survived by her husband, David Hammett of the home; two sons, Chase Hammett of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Justin Hammett and wife, Amanda of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother, Delmas McBee and wife, Brenda of Elgin, Texas; and three grandchildren, Caleb, Caysen, and Kailey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Virginia McBee.
