Loretta June Harjo

Seminole resident, Loretta June Harjo, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, in Oklahoma City.

Loretta, the daughter of Jonas Harjo Sr. and Diana Wolf Harjo, was born February 24, 1956, in Lawton, Oklahoma.  Loretta graduated from Del City High School, with the class of 1974.  She worked as a cook, at Yeager Oklahoma Headstart, then later in life she was a cleaning attendant at the Sac and Fox Casino.  Loretta was a faithful member of Bird Creek Church, who loved to go bargain hunting at garage sales and thrift stores and was happy to open her home to friends and family members for whom she loved to cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers; Nathan Harjo, Dorsey Harjo and Jonas Harjo Jr.; and sister Patricia Harjo.

Loretta is survived by her sons, Alex Harjo, DeMonte Harjo, and Marlin Harjo; daughters, Diedra Harjo, Renee Harjo, and Audra Harjo; grandchildren, Mya, Mariah, Montoya, Hazanna, Kristiana, Casey, Kaydence, Zacchaeus and Jordon; brothers, Ray Wolf, Tommy Harjo, Doug Harjo, Jerome Harjo, and Shawn Harjo; sisters, Dinah Harjo, Tammy Gribble, Cheryl Laskey, and Valerie Harjo; along with many other family members and friends.

Casket bearers will be Corey Harris, Johnny Wayne, Junior Harjo, Nathan Harjo, Christian Thomas and Jeremiah Harjo. Honorary bearers will be Jordon Scott and Casey Harjo.

A wake service will be Friday, May 17, 2024, at 7:00 P.M. at Bird Creek Church, in Sasakwa with Jason Tiger officiating.

Services will be Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Bird Creek Church, with Jesse Wind and Bill Hobia officiating.  Burial will follow at Bird Creek Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
