Kenneth Roy Scott made heaven his eternal home on November 2, 2025. He was 77 years old. Kenneth was born on January 8, 1948, in Hartshorne, Oklahoma to Rev. Edward Henderson and Bettie Louise (Moore) Scott.

Kenneth attended multiple schools while growing up but was a graduate of Haywood High School class of 1966. He entered the work force until receiving his “invitation letter” to join Uncle Sam’s Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Germany throughout his military service. Kenneth returned stateside and married Veline L. Battles on February 14, 1970, in McAlester, Oklahoma at Northside Assembly of God. Kenneth was a machinist by trade and began a long career with OG+E in 1975 working at Seminole Power Plant in Konawa, OK. He transferred to Sooner Power Plant with OG+E and moved his family to Pawnee, OK in 1979 where he remained until 1994 when he was transferred back to Seminole Power Plant where he worked until he retired in December 2012. Kenneth coached little league baseball and wrestling, served on the school board for Pawnee Public Schools, taught Sunday School and Royal Rangers and was an active, longtime member, song leader and board member of the Konawa Assembly of God Church. He loved hunting, fishing, raising dogs and watching his children and grandchildren’s activities. Kenneth lostVeline to cancer in 2013. He married Julia (Freeman) Merriman on June 6, 2014.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Veline; his parents, Rev. Edward and Louise, Scott; his brother, Tommy Scott and brothers-in-law, Waymon L. Shaddy and Roby Battles.

He is survived by his current wife, Julia, of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Tawana and Donald Holland of Tecumseh; son and daughter-in-law, Eddy and Tracey Scott of Ardmore; son and significant other, Waymon and L’Nette Scott of Sherman, TX; step-daughters, Amanda Merriman of Tecumseh and Julie Williams of Ada; sisters, Karen and Ralph Wade, and Linda Murr of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law, Frank and Ivy Battles of Pensacola, Florida, sister-in-law, Beverly Shaddy of Spring, Texas and Uncle Joe and Tribble Moore of Atwood. Kenneth is also survived by his grand and great-grandchildren, Jordan Moery, Savanah Cox, Allison (Moery) and Chase Stallcup, Kimberly Holland, Tyler Scott, Payton and Chance Sweeten, Trenton Scott, Raegan Scott, Jaley and Toby Prevost, Reese and Taylor Ringle, Oliver Stallcup, Waylon Cox, Sutton Prevost, Asher Prevost, Captain Sweeten, Joshua, Jacob and Jalynn Williams, Ava Maxwell, Brennan Maxwell and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Konawa Assembly of God Church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Bryan Forman and Rev. Steve Lowrance will officiate, and interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Arpelar Cemetery in Arpelar, Oklahoma. Casket bearers are Jordan Moery, Tyler Scott, Trenton Scott, Chase Stallcup, Chance Sweeten, Toby Prevost, Taylor Ringle, Jacob Williams, and Josh Williams. Honorary bearers are Joe Moore, Zeb Bowles, Bob Carter, and Brennan Maxwell. 

The family will receive guests from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
