Katherine Marie Hill

Seminole, OK resident Katherine Marie Hill passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at her home surrounded by family at the age of 72. Katherine was born on August 28, 1953 in Seminole, OK to Glenn Ervin and Josephine Jane (King) Gilkey. She graduated high school in Bridgeport, TX in 1971. She spent her first years after high school in Seminole, OK then later moved to Claremore, OK where she became the County Assessor. In later life she moved back to Seminole and went to work for the Seminole County Assessors office where she later retired. Katherine married Michael Lay on January 8, 2010.

Katherine loved to do lawn work, gardening and art activities. Above all else she treasured spending time with her loved ones.

Katherine is survived by her daughter, Terri Laine Stastny and grandson, Nathan Stastny both of Seminole, OK; son, Ricky (Hopper) Williams and his nieces, Isabella Martinez and Aurora Martinez; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Jodie Gilkey of Palmview, TX; nephew, Jason and Debbie Gilkey and Connor and Treasure Gilkey of Nashville, TN and many other family and friends.

Katherine was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Gilkey; mother, Josephine Mills; husband, Michael Lay and son-in-law, JD Stastny.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
