Mustang resident, Johnnie Sue White, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026 in Oklahoma City at the age of 88. Johnnie was born on December 8, 1937 in Konawa, OK to Johnny Lester and Pearl May (Works) McDaniel. She spent most of her life in Seminole living in town and then many years on a 20 acre farm just outside of town. She received her nursing degree from Seminole State College. She worked as a registered nurse and retired from the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. Johnnie married Daniel Boone “D.B.” White on December 6, 1956. D.B. passed away on May 25, 2006. Johnnie resided at the Arbor House of Mustang where she was very active and fell in love with many of the staff. She came to call it home with many special friendships established.
Johnnie enjoyed reading, particularly a good mystery and Christian books. She liked puzzles, playing games, cooking and hosting family holidays and birthdays until her early 80’s. She loved watching Oklahoma State Football and the OKC Thunder. Johnnie also made floral arrangements making seasonal arrangements not only for her home but also for family and friends over the years. She was on the floral committee at Arbor House Assisted Living Center creating the weekly table decorations. Johnnie was a very competitive dice, card and domino games player. She was always up for a game and usually won. She was all about God and family; always ready to share her faith and listen to and guide others to God and His word. She kept her family close always prioritizing their needs above her own. Johnnie’s children have always said God blessed them when He gave them her as their mom.
Johnnie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Zane and Diana White of Seminole; three daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanna and Charles (Cam) Dooley of Yukon, Laurie and Ronnie Calaway of Yukon and Kathy White of Seminole; seven grandchildren, Amber (White) Majesky, Heather White, Cama (Dooley) Cord, Jonathan Calaway, Megan (Calaway) Miller, Dayna Grandstaff and Trey Richmond; eleven great grandchildren, Austyn White-Richards, Ashlyn White-Richards, Cadence Church, Danae Hodges, Quentin Richmond, Marin Richmond, Ames Miller, Monroe Miller, Nellie Miller, Adalyn Cord and Benjamin Cord; and many other family and friends.
Johnnie’s family will hold a private graveside memorial service at Tecumseh Cemetery at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
