Johnathan Lynn Taylor, 55, was born on June 14th, 1970, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, and passed away on Thursday, February 19th, 2026, in Seminole, Oklahoma. John grew up in Oklahoma and Houston and graduated from Mustang High School, Class of 1988. He went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he played football.
John was deeply rooted in the Seminole community, especially within the local golf family. The course was one of his favorite places to be – not only for the game itself, but the camaraderie and lifelong friendships formed there. He loved the course, the challenge of the game, and the fellowship shared with friends who became like family.
John was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family. He approached life with dedication and determination, always putting those he loved first. He believed in celebrating life to his fullest- whether through time spent with family, laughter shared with friends, or days out on the course. His love for life was evident in the way he lived each day, finding joy in the little moments and never missing a reason to gather, laugh, and make memories with the people he loved.
Above all, John was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Marla; his daughter, Payton and son-in-law Jon Kimmel, and their children Emma and Sophya; daughter Jordan and son-in-law Jesus Gamez, and their daughter Maya, and his son Carson Taylor. He is also survived by his father, Charles Taylor, his mother, Paula Taylor; his sister, Patty Ford, and her children, Avery and Cooper, father and mother-in-law, Gordon Cleary and Edith Cleary; his brother and sister-in-law, Brandon and Jennifer Cleary, and their children, Hayden, Warren and JR.
John will be remembered for his loyalty, his love for family and friends, his competitive spirit, and the lasting impact he made on those who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will be deeply missed on the fairways and far beyond, but his legacy of love, friendship and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
John’s family and friends will be celebrating his life on Saturday, February 28th, at 5:00PM at Seminole High School. This will be a come-and-go celebration of life, and all who knew and loved John are invited to attend, share their stories, and honor the memories that made him so special.
