Jo Ann Johnson

Jo Ann (Kuestersteffen) Johnson, age 68 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away at OU Medical in Oklahoma City on August 19, 2025.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Fr. Brashears will officiate, and burial will follow at Violet Springs Cemetery in Konawa. Pallbearers are Jody Johnson, Steven Fry, Dylan Fry, Daryl Kuestersteffen, Mike Kuestersteffen, and Sam Silas. Honorary bearers are Tony Kuestersteffen, Leo Kuestersteffen, Darrell Mackey, and Rick Stevenson. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. 

Jo Ann was born August 14, 1957 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Joseph Benedict Kuestersteffen and Matilda Ann (Lehman) Silas. She graduated from Asher High School and received her Master’s Degree in Human Resources from East Central University of Ada, Oklahoma. She became the Director of Purchasing for East Central University where she retired in 2019. She married Mickey Travis Johnson October 14, 1978 at the Assembly of God Church in Konawa by Rev. Arvle Knight. Jo Ann loved cooking and sewing.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband of almost 47 years, Mickey Johnson of the home; children, LaDawna “Punkin” Fry and husband, Steven of Konawa, and Jody Johnson and wife, Julie of Konawa; grandchildren, Ashley Fry of Konawa and Dylan Fry and wife, Jolie of Konawa, and Sevy Johnson of Konawa; and first great grandson, Kolter Fry (on the way); siblings, Daryl Kuestersteffen and wife, LaDonna of Konawa, Mike Kuestersteffen and wife, Vicki of Vero Beach, Florida, Susie Huggins and husband, Ted of Konawa, and Sam Silas and wife, Marteen of Ada, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind a large family including numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.
