Jo Ann Jones

Shawnee resident Jo Ann Jones, 91, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Shawnee.

Jo Ann, the daughter of James and Bernice (Moore) Minter, was born February 7, 1935, in Coalgate. She married Edgar Paul Douglas Jones on January 2, 1985. Edgar passed away too soon.

Jo Ann enjoyed reading, playing bingo, watching old westerns, and attending church. Above all, however, she cherished spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; her parents, James and Bernice Minter; and her great-grandsons, Teagen Wyatt Brady and Michael Lowery.

Jo Ann is survived by her sons, John Jones of Stratford, Davy Paul Jones of Elkhart, Texas, and William Joaquin Jones of Harjo; grandchildren, Chrystal and Gary Hyatt, Pennie, and Paul; numerous great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild, along with many other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
