Jimmie Carol Sanders

Jimmie Carol Sanders, age 83 and a longtime resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away July 21, 2025 at Corn Heritage Village and Rehab in Corn, Oklahoma.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery, in Roff, Oklahoma. Casket bearers are Steve Sanders, Scott Sanders, Joel Sanders, Colt Sanders, Matthew Sanders, and Rickey House. Honorary bearers are Mark Sanders, Bentley Copus, Brantley Wiggins, Blake Wiggins, Case Walker, Jace Hilmes, Eddie Hilmes, Cutter Walker, Cody Walker, Brian Copus, Kolt Johnson, Jacob Headrick.

Jimmie was born July 4, 1942, in Malaga, New Mexico, to James and Cordelia (Wilkinson) Gibbs. On May 3, 1968, she married Sydney Sanders in Ada, Oklahoma. Jimmie and Sydney enjoyed 56 years of marriage, prior to his passing on September 1, 2024. She retired from the US Government, where she was an Education Specialist. Jimmie enjoyed music, particularly playing guitar; she loved traveling and over the years compiled a great collection of pictures of sunrises and sunsets; she was a fan of the Texas Longhorns and of the San Antonio Spurs; but nothing was as important to Jimmie as her time spent with her grandkids, family and friends.

She is survived by six sons, Sydney Sanders, Jr. of Konawa, Steve Sanders and wife, Lynita of Gracemont, Oklahoma, Rodney Sanders of Houston, Texas, Scott Sanders and wife, Robbie of Konawa, Joel Sanders of Konawa, and Tommy Johnson and wife, Martha of Hartford, Arkansas; two daughters, Terry House and husband, Rickey of Konawa, and Jessie Taber and husband, Thomas of Oklahoma City; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Phyllis Gibbs, of Ada; a sister, Vera Allen, of Cumby, Tx; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren, and one on the way; and a host of other family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, J.T. Sanders and Sydney Sanders; and sisters, Faye Turney, Polly Ferguson, and Sherry Buss.
