Oklahoma City resident, Jerry Wayne Gibson Sr., passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, in Oklahoma City.
Jerry, the son of John and Lula (McCracken) Gibson Slowey, was born November 30, 1943, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. He grew up in Tishomingo, before moving to and settling into the Oklahoma City metro area. Jerry took and job that became a career, working in flooring. On December 9, 1961, he married Mary Patricia “Pat” Newman, in Oklahoma City. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Jerry was a Godfearing man, honest and faithful. A very caring man, Jerry would give you the shirt off his back, all the while being very direct and to the point, he was considered to be quite blunt. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife, Pat.
Jerry is survived by his four children, Cindy Porter, Teresa Porter and her husband, Louis, Gayla Tredway and her husband, Bill, and Jerry Gibson and his wife, Sara; 13 grandchildren, Mike Porter and wife Amanda, David Porter and wife Shawna, Crystal Harlow and husband Brandon, Jeremiah Porter and wife Vicky, Willy Tredway, Freddy Tredway and wife Monica, Jenny Grossman, Matt Tredway and wife Samantha, Jarred Blyth, Kaylea Robertson and husband Michael, Braedon, Haiden, and Ciara; 22 great grandchildren, Jimmy Porter, Kami and Jacob Cornwell, Masey Porter, Gabriel Porter, Brinkley Reitz, Jackson Reitz, Adrian Porter, Jacob Porter, Max Tredway, Brooke Tredway, Drake Tredway, Liam Tredway, Sophie Tredway, Olivia Tredway, Freddy Tredway Jr., Dexter Grossman, Aliana Grossman, Thea Tredway, Jarred’s 2 kids, Abriana Shea, Simeon, Robertson; four great great grandchildren, Dax Porter, Kylo Porter, Kayzlee Cornwell, and Kason Cornwell; five sisters, Sharon Stauffer, Phylis Evans, Cathy Slowey, Dorothy Mize, Peny Appleton; one brother, Orville Slowey; and many other family members and friends.
A graveside service will be Thursday, October 24, at 1:00 P.M. at Yeager Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
