Jena Renia Newell

Wewoka resident Jena Renia (Burnett) Newell, 56, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Oklahoma City.

Renia, the daughter of Jerry and Julie Ann (Bowen) Burnett, was born February 3, 1970, in Enid, Oklahoma. She attended Lahoma Public Schools and, following high school, attended tech school where she studied paralegal studies.

On August 8, 1992, Renia married Robert “Butch” Newell in Ponca City. She dedicated her career to education, working for several schools including Cimarron Public Schools in Lahoma, Butner Public Schools, and most recently New Lima High School.

Renia loved arts and crafts and sold many of her handmade creations at local stores around the Seminole area. She also enjoyed cooking and baking; her pantry was always full, and she was always ready and willing to try a new recipe. In recent years, her greatest joy was spoiling her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother; her grandparents; and her mother-in-law.

Renia is survived by her husband, Butch Newell, of the home; her father, Jerry Burnett of Lahoma; her son and daughter-in-law, Zachary and Stefanie Newell of Shawnee; her daughter and son-in-law, Cortney and Garrett Farrow of Tecumseh; her grandchildren, Lillie Newell and Etta Farrow, with two more grandchildren, Maren and Miles, on the way; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Jodi Burnett of Ringwood, and Jereamy and Rachelle Burnett of Ringwood; along with many other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Newell, Kaden Williams, Jason Williams, Dillon Dildine, Garrett Farrow, and David Carter.

A family visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 Wednesday evening, at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, with Pastor Nick Atyia officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
