James Evertt Jackson, loving and devoted husband and wonderful father, passed from this life on August 12, 2026 in Lima, Oklahoma at 86 years of age. James, a resident of Lima, Oklahoma his entire life, was born December 7, 1939 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents Pearliree Roberson and Caldwell Jackson.
James attended Lima elementary and middle school, but was drafted for the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. From there, he went to work with his father working in several areas which he assisted his father and other friends in building the Holdenville hospital at that time. James served as a Mason for several years. He later worked for the Seminole sanitation department, retiring after 15 or more years due to knee and back injuries. For over 40 plus years, he was a devoted and faithful member, along with his wife, of First Baptist Church in Lima.
James was a kind hearted, quiet and soft-spoken man. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved helping his wife in gardening, growing any vegetables he could think of, mostly tomato plants, black eye peas and more. He was a great, strong hearted worker his entire life and loved working on his cars. He loved playing dominoes, barbecuing, camping every summer at Sportsman Lake with his family listening to gospel/blues music.
James was united in marriage to Neola Eloise Berry on August 16, 1961 in Seminole, Oklahoma by the Justice of the Peace. They were married for 47 strong wonderful years and to this union 7 children were born. He was preceded in death by his father Caldwell Jackson, his mother Pearliree Roberson, his devoted wife Neola Berry Jackson, his children Treasha Jackson Goss, Arthur Lee Jackson, Bernard James Jackson and Kimberly Ann Jackson and his siblings Vanessa Jackson and Cecil Jackson.
James leaves to cherish his memories, his children Collette Payne (Wendell), Colletta Davis Jackson, Otis Jackson, his grandsons whom he cherished as his own sons, Derrick Jackson (Louie) and Jermaine Jackson, brother Caldwell Jackson (OKC), sisters Gwen Roberson (Lima), Juanita Jackson (Edmond), a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a host of relatives and many, many friends. James will truly be missed of his smile and presence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
