Ivan Ray Heard

Ivan Ray Heard, Del City resident, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, in Midwest City at the age of 82.  Ivan was born on October 31, 1939, in Sasakwa, Oklahoma to James Tillman Heard and Elsie Mae (Cooley) Heard.  He was raised in Konawa, Oklahoma and lived most of his life in Del City.  He married Nell Louise Sanders on October 6, 1957 in Holdenville, Oklahoma.  Nell preceded Ivan in death on May 31, 2000.

Ivan worked as a welder.  He retired from Nuway Laundry after 30 plus years of service.  He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and OU football.

Ivan is survived by his son, Kevin Ray Heard and wife, Maureen of Frisco, Texas; two daughters, Lisa Raenell Wilson and husband, Dennis Ray of Del City, Oklahoma and Melissa Lynn Gammon and husband, Christopher of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; sister, Polly Hill and husband, Donnie of Waldron, AR; eight grandchildren, Shelby, Shannon, Jacob, David, Zander, Conner, Caden and Andrew; three great grandchildren, Paisley, Remington and Chandler and many other family and friends.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nell and twelve siblings.

Those serving as casket bearers will be Michael Dill, Jay Casperson, Joshua Covert, Bud Moore, Brian Hill and Adam Hill.

Viewing will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Dr. Bruce Sanders officiating.  Burial will follow at Lone Dove Cemetery in Sasakwa, Oklahoma.  Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
