Irving Clay Riley

Irving Clay Riley, Wewoka resident, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 in Wewoka, at the age of 71.  Irving was born on October 20, 1952 in Seminole, OK to Edmondt Riley and Betty Jean King.  He grew up in the Bowlegs area and graduated from Sequoyah High School.

Irving was an artist and loved to draw.  He was a loving brother and had lots of friends.  He had a lot of respect for people.

Irving is survived by his three sons, Hulbutta Riley and wife, Johnna, Ben Riley and Washie Riley; daughter, Sahunie Coffee of Harrah, OK; eight brothers, Sammy Howell and wife, Rachael of Pink, OK, Carl Wood of Shawnee, OK, Franklin Riley of Shawnee, OK, Dino Riley of Shawnee, OK, Gary Riley of Shawnee, OK, Danny Howell of Konawa, OK, Tommy Howell and wife, Stacy of Konawa, OK, William Howell of Tecumseh, OK; thirteen sisters, Tereasa Riley of Tucson, AZ, Jennie Riley of Tucson, AZ, Felicia Riley of Tucson, AZ, Lara Riley of Montana, Denise Coon of Shawnee, OK, Johnnie Howell of Las Vegas, NV, Sue Howell of Shawnee, OK, Alisia Cully and husband, Tim of Konawa, OK, Anita Howell of Konawa, OK, Mary Howell of Little Rock, AR, Betty Morgan and husband, Joe of Konawa, OK, Shiela Howell of Seminole, OK and Shelly Watson of Bethel, OK; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many other family and friends.

Irving was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean King; father, Edmondt Riley; brothers, Jesse West, Randall Riley, Wayne Riley, Vincent Riley; sisters, Edletha Riley and Arlene Riley.

Those serving as casket bearers will be Franklin Riley, Dino Riley, Carl Wood, Tommy Howell, Danny Howell and Jesse Factor. Honorary casket bearers will be Hulbutta Riley and Matt Wood.

A wake will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK.  Rev. Eric Thlocco will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Riley Family Cemetery in Bowlegs, OK.  There will be a meal served at 5:00 p.m. following services at the North Community Center at Mekusukey Mission in Seminole, OK.
