Iris Elaine (Young) Fisher, age 88 and a longtime resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away April 30, 2025 at her home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2025 at the Church of Christ of Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Richard Winters will officiate, and a private family burial will follow at Dora Cemetery at a later time. Casket bearers are Joe Don Harper, Brett Hill, Jaxon Hill, Cade Hill, Billy Stewart, and Tyler Stewart. Honorary bearers are Bud Crawford, Dewayne Gillum, Donny Kiker, and Barry Streetman.
Iris was born June 28, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas to Tommie C. Young and Flora F. (Coleman) Young. She met the love of her life, Burnus Lee Fisher, while he was stationed in San Antonio. They married on November 23, 1956 and moved to Oklahoma where she became a farmer’s wife. Iris was a member of the Church of Christ of Konawa and was active with the Farm Bureau Women’s Committee. She loved antiquing, shopping, cooking, and gardening. She also loved exchanging letters.
She is survived by two daughters, Lori Kiker and husband, Donny of Konawa, and Kim Streetman and husband, Barry also of Konawa; three grandchildren, Brett Hill, Kristen Harper, and Kayla Stewart; eight great grandchildren, Jaxon, Cade, Sophie, Macy, Tyler, Raylan, Lane, and Bella; and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Burnus on July 13, 2022; and two brothers, Thomas and Edwin Young.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
